Potassium dihydrogen phosphate granules (chemical formula: KH2PO4) are sealed and stored, stable in air, and lose water at 400 ºC to become pyrophosphate. They are used to prepare buffer solutions, determine , antimony, phosphorus, aluminum, and iron, prepare phosphorus standard solutions, prepare culture media, and measure inorganic phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase activity in serum.
Stable in air, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. In industry, it is used as a buffer and culture agent, as well as a seasoning for synthesizing sake as a bacterial culture agent. It is also used as a raw material for producing potassium metaphosphate, a culture agent, fortifier, leavening agent, and fermentation aid for brewing yeast. In agriculture, it is used as an efficient phosphate potassium compound fertilizer.
